This is probably the question we get asked most at Kridhaa, and understandably so. “How much should I actually budget for my bridal lehenga?” is hard to answer honestly because Delhi’s bridal market spans an enormous range, and most brides walk in with no real sense of what separates a ₹25,000 lehenga from a ₹2,50,000 one. Here’s a genuinely honest breakdown.
What Actually Drives the Price designer sarees
Four things decide what you pay for a bridal lehenga: the fabric, the embroidery technique, the hours of handwork involved, and whether the piece is custom made or off the rack. Understanding these lets you shop by value instead of guessing from a price tag alone.
Fabric
Raw silk and machine made net or georgette sit at the more affordable end. Pure silk, Banarasi weaves and handloom fabrics cost significantly more because the raw material itself is expensive and the weaving takes time.
Embroidery technique.
Machine embroidery and sequin work bring costs down considerably. Hand embroidery such as zardozi, aari or dabka pushes prices up because every motif is placed stitch by stitch by a karigar, often over several weeks.
Hours of craftsmanship.
A lightly embellished lehenga might take a few days of work. A heavily hand embroidered bridal piece can take one to three months across multiple artisans. Those hours are the largest hidden cost in any “designer” price tag.
Custom versus off the rack.
A made to measure lehenga with your own blouse pattern, fitting sessions and personalised design choices naturally costs more than a ready piece pulled off a rack, but it also fits and photographs far better.
Rough Price Bands in Delhi (2026)
These are approximate ranges based on what we see across Delhi’s bridal market, not fixed figures, since every boutique and designer prices differently.
Entry level (roughly ₹25,000 to ₹50,000): Machine embroidered lehengas in net, georgette or raw silk. Suitable for budget conscious brides or for functions like the engagement rather than the main wedding day.
Mid range (roughly ₹50,000 to ₹1,20,000): A mix of hand and machine embroidery, better fabric quality, some customisation. This is where most Delhi brides land for their main wedding day outfit.
Higher end (roughly ₹1,20,000 to ₹3,00,000+): Fully hand embroidered pieces in pure silk, extensive zardozi or kundan work, full customisation and multiple fittings. This range is common for brides prioritising heirloom quality bridal wear.
Designer and couture labels: Established designer names can charge well above these ranges for the same craftsmanship level, largely because of brand recognition. Worth knowing this distinction so you’re paying for the work, not just the name if that isn’t your priority.
How to Budget Wisely
Decide early whether you want your bridal lehenga to be an heirloom piece or a beautiful outfit for one day, since that single decision changes your realistic budget more than anything else. Ask any boutique to break down what you’re paying for fabric, embroidery and stitching separately rather than accepting one bundled number, so you understand exactly where your money is going. And remember that alterations, blouse stitching and dupatta work are sometimes charged separately, so always confirm whether your quoted price is truly final.
